Icy charm of Norwegian landscapes from Torgeir Schjolberg

Torgeir Schjolberg, is one of the most famous representatives of Norwegian watercolor painting. The future artist, was born in one of the most stormy towns of Norway - Buda, in a family long since engaged in fish trade. From his youthful years, he realized that trading in fish is not what he would like to do in life, so in 1967, he entered the National College of Art and Design in Oslo, the department of graphics. And after a few years, made a real sensation at the exhibition in his native city, all the paintings he exhibited were sold out.

His inspiration, a talented artist finds in the beauty of the northern landscapes of the native Lofoten islands. In the first half of the year, the sun hardly ever visits the country, and often the Norwegian landscapes do not shine with the brightness and richness of colors, this is the severe charm of the far land, so skilfully conveyed in the watercolors of Schölberg. His paintings wax melancholy and loneliness, he often writes lonely houses that are covered with snow drifts, and around the soul, only the wind whistles, piercing to the bones, and the only thing that reminds of the possible presence of people is the warm lights that shine in the windows.
